Celebrating the life of

Hazel Gardner Henderson

May 08, 1940 - January 26, 2025

Hazel Gardner Henderson

Hazel Gardner Henderson was born May 8, 1940 in Oakridge, Tennessee to Marie Jet Gardner and Arthur E. Gardner.  Hazel later moved to Savannah, Georgia where she was raised by her aunt, Hazel Gardner.  She attended public school in Savannah where she met her future husband, Clair Alvin Henderson.  The two were married on October 6, 1962 and resided in Savannah.

Hazel worked in various sectors throughout the community.  She enjoyed just about everything, but especially her family, the Tennessee Vols and occasionally some good vodka with friends.

She is preceded in life by the love of her life, Al Henderson, Senior, and survived by her sons, Al (Kelli), John (Adele), and her grandchildren Taylor, Trey (Taryn), Sarah, Emily (Jackson), Natalie and Haley.

Hazel never met a stranger and was loved by all she touched.  She is happy now to have joined her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Hazel’s honor to Senior Citizens, Inc.

Hazel, and Al were friends. She was always the kindest sweetest and most inclusive person you could ever find I spoke. with her recently about our classmates. Remember Al as well. We sat together at Johnny Harris right before he passed away dear friends always made everyone comfortable. My heart hurts for all of those who miss them dearly and hope for fun memories and many blessings.

Hazel had a wonderful gift of bringing people together and helping friends, both old and new, stay in touch with each other. She was always so interested in life, her family, friends, her special sports teams, family pets and her favorite detective novels. Hazel was a special person and will be missed by so many of us. One could say rest in peace, Hazel, but she will probably be organizing events in Heaven! Hearfelt sympathy to Al, Kelli, John, Adele and all of her lovely family. Linda Geriner

I grew up calling her "Aunt Hazel" even though she was my first cousin. Al and John were like my brothers, and most of my childhood memories include them. She was an extraordinary person with the gift of hospitality and such a loving heart. She was right by my side during my mother's illness and when my son had to have heart surgery. She loved my kiddos and got me through a lot of stressful times in my life. Sadly, I lost touch many years ago, but I will always love her! Aunt Hazel, you're with so many of our loved ones now. Give them all big hugs, especially my mama. ~Kaye
